RESIDENZA D'EPOCA VILLA CAMBI
At three kilometres form PIAZZA DEL CAMPO (the famous Campo Square) you can find VILLA CAMBI, a Residential house with three elegantly decorated rooms in a building dating back to the Xll century (Roman Castrum), outpost of the senese troops for the defence of Siena.
The name "Val di Pugna" (Pugna Valley) recalls battles fought here. Just think about the fight between the legions of Mario and Pompeo and the battle of Monteaperti between senesi and Florentines in the year 1259, when the old Castle, where today we find the historical residence Villa Cambi, was on fire and destroyed.
