The Castel di Pugna estate is situated in the South-East zone of Siena, along an imaginary line running between the Castle of Brolio and the civic tower of Montalcino. The area is particularly suited for grapevine cultivation (grounds are formed by muddy yellow sands and clays) and it is also rich in history. At 3 kilometres from PIAZZA DEL CAMPO (the famous Campo square) a cypress lane leads you up to the ancient "CASTELLO DI PUGNA" (dating back to the year 1100). Vineyards and olive trees surround the heart of the winery: the wine cellar dug right into the limestone, the owners' Villa and the elegantly restored and polished outbuildings, typical examples of old Tuscan barns.
